Meeting the needs of exhibition & events industry professionals

Welcome to IAEE Rocky Mountain Chapter

Welcome to the IAEE Rocky Mountain Chapter!  We are excited to step into 2020 as we have a big year of activity planned at both the local and national level.  Of course, we will be involved with the Meetings Industry Council Annual Conference and Trade Show, and we hope you will join us this year on Tuesday, March 10-11th at the Colorado Convention Center.  Be sure to check off the IAEE membership box when you register for the conference.  We will hold our Annual Member Appreciation event in June at Coors Field.  The group of members attending this event has increased each year since we started in 2013 and it’s a wonderful way to have fun with industry colleagues.  Look for information coming in the spring for an educational event in August.  The always enjoyable Serving Up Hope Luncheon will be held in November and once again IAEE will support the event by purchasing tables and inviting members to join us.  Finally, Expo, Expo in Louisville, Ky this year from December 8-10th.   Check back on the IAEE website for the most up to date information on upcoming events.

One of the main goals our board consistently agrees on is the need for participation from our members.  We have seen growth over the past three years and would like to continue that trend as we become a stronger and more dynamic chapter. There are many opportunities to become involved and we welcome any amount of time you can offer, in any area and at any level you can participate. In other words... please join us... we’d love to have your help and are confident you will benefit from the experience, professionally and personally.

Rocky Mountain Board

Notes from The Rocky Mountain Chapter Board:

Hello Rocky Mountain Chapter,

First and foremost, we hope you and your loved ones are well.  Secondly, as we enter what for some of us is our fourth week of social isolation while coping with income loss, child care issues, and unrelenting uncertainty it is also undisputable that our industry is beginning to rally instances of opportunity.

There are incredible stories, of cooperation, generosity, and ingenious pivots in our news feeds every day and while there is certainly more than enough bad news to go around these examples of hope, optimism, community, and grit provide us with great comfort.

In an effort to participate in this moment of evolution within our industry we have decided to move our events for the foreseeable future to a variety of virtual platforms. Please be on the lookout for an invitation to our inaugural Virtual event this May!

Our hope is to maintain a connection with our regional community while highlighting some of the many ways we are seeing our resilient and resourceful industry cope with the staggering effects of this pandemic.  GMID goes Virtual is a great example of our industry’s creativity and a fantastic way to participate in elevating our industry’s needs and concerns.

Until the days we can meet again in person we look forward to seeing you VIRTUALLY everywhere!

Get Involved

We asked some of our local chapter members to share some of their IAEE experiences and captured them in this video. Please watch and let us know how you would like to get involved!

Together, I believe we can continue to grow and improve the Rocky Mountain Chapter! I would love to hear from you; please feel free to share your ideas for our chapter. We'd like to hear what areas you think we can improve on, what programs and events you think will be beneficial to you and your company, or areas you are struggling to find answers to in our industry. We offer tools for every level and interest in our industry and hope that you will take advantage of those tools as we progress through 2020.

Thank you!

Hello!  My name is Sydney Rhea, and I am passionate about growing and developing a Young Professionals (YP) community here in the Rocky Mountain region!    I am an Operations Coordinator at Informa in Boulder, CO and made my way into the exhibitions and events industry three years ago after producing galas and weddings in NYC.  When I’m not traveling for trade shows and conferences, you can find me hiking with my pup, Mortimer or spending time with my 1 year old daughter, Emilene.

As part of the IAEE National YP Committee, I am inspired by seeing all of the exciting things YPs across the country are accomplishing.  From a national perspective, we are on a mission to reach more YPs than ever before and develop a community of YPs focused on motivating, connecting and empowering one another.  Please reach out to me if you are interested in getting involved or if you are new to the community and want to learn more!

I hope to see you at one of our upcoming YP meet ups!
